Salon International hair show

EXCEL, London was the highlight of the hair care and beauty industry for three days. There were great new products launched, inspirational speeches, motivation and educational classes for thousands of hair dressers from around the world that attended this great Salon International event.

There were over 200 exhibits at the show, which means there was something new and interesting for everyone there to learn about. Several companies offered live stages that were simply breathtaking. Some of the companies that had these great stages include, BaByliss, Affinage, Wahl UK, Keune, and the Fellowship for British Hairdressing.

The HJ’s British Hairdressing Awards Gallery was a huge and fabulous stand alone gallery. There were images from the nine regional and six specialist categories, including images of the nominees for British Hairdresser of the year.

If you are working for a salon that was there to help develop your business, you were in for a treat. There were so many new and innovative products available, it was mind boggling. There was everything from foils to disposable towels available. If your business was looking for a new computer system, there were several offerings as well. There was a large selection of curling irons, clippers, combs, scissors and straighteners available as well.

The artistic team from Toni & Guy launched their Label M collection and their Interactive collection. The interactive collection was about creating personal looks through texturizing. The label M features sharp short styles and quiffs. In addition, the team created hairstyles inspired by the forties. These styles were designed to go with new fashions from Giles Deacon.

Da Da Dolls, is the latest collection from Sassoon Academy. This great new collection focuses on texture, and cuts that are fused with color. The show also had collections from earlier years.

Tim Hartley’s presentation was all about the three B’s, bobs, bowls, and berets. His inspiration was street fashion and he showed how to create contrast with different shapes and textures. The colors of these great hairstyles ranged from soft blondes and pastels to a shocking pink.

The looks that were presented were from his collection, Gold.

Sassoon Academy gave young students an insight into the company with their future creatives collection. The team explained how they come up with their great hairstyles by exploring fashion, design and music for inspiration. Rock with Rockaholic was a collection presented by Inspirational Youth, 14 of the up and coming hairdressers from TIGI.

The salon seminars saw Mahogony, one of the top educational teams in the UK showcase their collections in a seminar type environment. The collection that was showcased during the seminar was the Romantica Collection, which combines rock with English dandy.

For the business side of the show, Business Extra presented by Salon Genius encouraged owners to go back to the basics for motivation. Start up secrets was shared by Sean Hanna and Nergish Wadia-Austin provided tools for developing chair side sales. Julie Eldrett brought the seminar to a close with demonstrating what a client sees when they first walk into a salon. These seminars were truly inspirational and should not have been missed.
